Stop At: Herastrau Park, B-dul Aviatorilor, Bucharest Romania

Enjoy starting our tour in one of the largest man-made parks in Bucharest, recently renamed after our last king, King Mihai the First.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Triumph Arch (Arcul de Triumf), Piata Arcul de Triumf, Bucharest Romania

Similar to other triumphal arches in Europe, particularly Paris, ours was set up to celebrate Romania being on the winning side of the First World War.

Pass By: Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History, Sos. Kiseleff nr. 1, Bucharest 011341 Romania

A spectacular early 20th century building, right by Victory Square

Stop At: Piața Victoriei, București, Romania

Host to our country's government and a major road hub, Piata Victoriei has seen the largest protests in recent history in 2018 and 2019.

Stop At: George Enescu Museum (Muzeul George Enescu), Calea Victorei 141, Bucharest Romania

Housed in a splendid French baroque Palace, this museum hosts our greatest composer's first violin and many other personal items.

Stop At: Ateneul Roman, Str. Benjamin Franklin nr.1-3 Sector 1, Bucharest Romania

This late 19th century building in the neoclassical and eccletic style hosts the Romanian Philharmonic, and was built partially with public donations.

Stop At: Piaka Revolukiei, Calea Victoriei Boulevard, Bucharest Romania

This square is home of the famous balcony where communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu first understood that his regime was toppling. He was airlifted from the building's roof, only to be abandoned by his own subordinates mere hours later, and later led to a summary trial and execution.

A lovely French style garden with many trees, flowers, benches, complete with a shallow lake, where we might take a refreshment break.

Stop At: Palace of Parliament, Strada Izvor 2-4, Bucharest 050711 Romania

The second largest building in the world after the Pentagon, construction on this Palace began a few years before the fall of the communist regime. As such, the Palace is not complete to this day, but it still looms over much of the city, with its sheer size and the weight of the stories surrounding it.

Stop At: Manastirea Antim, Strada Mitropolit Antim Ivireanu 29, Bucharest 040111 Romania

This 18th century church is in the immediate vicinity of the Palace of Parliament, a testament to the way the area looked before Ceausescu's dreams of red glory permanently affected the neighborhood.

Stop At: Carol Park, Filaret hill, Bucharest Romania

Landscaped to honor our king Carol the First's fourty years of reign at the start of the 20th century, this park is built on one of the very few hills in the city.
Home to the Heroe's Monument and one of our best outdoor concerts venue, Arenele Romane.

Stop At: Tineretului Park, Tineretului Boulevard, Bucharest Romania

Built by students in the 60s, for free (patriotic work, as it was called), this is perhaps the largest park in Bucharest. Tineretului Park is a very lively one, with many features for children including an amusement park, sports grounds, a multi-purpose events venue, an artificial lake, and many many trees.
