Itinerary

Day 1: Bucaramanga, Colombia

Stop At: Bucaramanga, Bucaramanga, Santander Department
Arrive at any time, your driver will be waiting to collect you from the airport and take you to your hotel in Bucaramanga.

There are no activities planned for this day, so just relax and drink plenty of water as it will be hot!

Day 2: Giron and Barichara

Stop At: Giron, Giron, Santander Department
Today you’ll begin your day with a brief tour of Giron; one of 17 beautiful heritage towns of Colombia.

Following this, you’ll begin your trip to one of the most beautiful towns in Colombia; Barichara. To get there you’ll be passing the Chicamocha Canyon which will offer you some spectacular views along the way!
As well as this you’ll also get to checkout San Gil, the adventure capital of the world. With an option to stop here and enjoy some bungy jumping, rafting, caving, or more.

Once you’ve arrived in Barichara you’ll be taken directly to your hotel to check-in and relax before taking a tour of this simply beautiful location. You’ll then have the remainder of the afternoon free to wander and soak-up this amazing setting.

Day 3: Barichara and Juan Curi Waterfalls

Stop At: Barichara, Barichara, Santander Department
You’ll enjoy your complete morning exploring this town and the surrounding area, as well as a wonderful lunch in the plaza.

Barichara is renowned for its colonial architecture, peaceful cobbled roads, artisan workshops, adobe houses, and the craft shops within. You’ll visit remarkable chapels, churches, graveyards, parks, sculptures, and more.

Following lunch, you’ll enjoy a trip to Juan Curí Falls with its spectacular views and a combined 820 ft (250 m) of waterfalls surrounded by native rainforest. You’ll have the opportunity to climb or hike to the very top, take amazing photos and repel down a section of waterfall, or simply relax in the natural swimming pool.

After this beautiful experience surrounded by nature, you’ll travel back to Barichara for another wonderful night in this beautiful town!

Day 4: Santa Marta - The Caribbean!

Stop At: Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia
You’ll have an early start today and travel back to Bucaramanga for an early afternoon flight to Santa Marta.

Once here you’ll be collected and taken directly to your hotel in Santa Marta to check-in.

You’ll then have the remainder of the afternoon free to relax and some “me time”

Day 5: Tayrona National Park – Cabo San Juan

Stop At: Tayrona National Park, Tayrona National Park, Santa Marta Municipality, Magdalena Department
You’ll be taken into Tayrona National Park and enjoy a 2-hour ecological walk through the jungle, visiting 4 beaches including Arenillas, La Piscina, Los Arrecifes, and Cabo San Juan.

You’ll learn about the local environment and the local indigenous; about the native animals that can be seen and or heard; where Caiman (similar to an alligator) are likely to be hiding if they are around; which beaches are safe to swim in; which indigenous are from this area and what do they do while Tayrona Park is closed for a month every year.

Once you’ve arrived in Cabo San Juan you’ll enjoy some fantastic beach time (approx. 3 hours), along with time to explore the area or partake in watersports, such as snorkeling.

After your beach-time has passed you’ll enjoy a 1.3-hour walk through the jungle and your waiting transportation.

Day 6: Minca - A Breath of Fresh Mountain Air

Stop At: Minca, Minca, Santa Marta Municipality, Magdalena Department
Travel to the small town of Minca where you'll breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy a tour of this wonderful little mountain pueblo, including its wonderful cafes and artisan shops.
Following this, you'll receive a coffee tour, where you'll learn everything about the production of the Colombia liquid gold, from the seed to cup.

Next, it's time to uncover the process of creating chocolate! where you'll discover the wonderful flavors of Colombian Cocoa, and perhaps you'll enjoy a chocolate facemask as well!
To finish off you're mountain adventure you'll explore some hidden waterfalls, with the opportunity for a refreshing swim (don't forget your swimming trunks)!
Of course, throughout your journey, you need to keep an eye out for any exotic birds that happen to be hanging out close by!

Day 7: Cartagena!

Stop At: Cartagena, Cartagena, Cartagena District, Bolivar Department
Relax in a morning drive along the coast and through the mountains to the awaiting walled city of Cartagena.
Once here you’ll check into your hotel and enjoy some free time before a City Tour starting around 3:30 pm.
On this wonderful tour you will not only get to see the most important sites and this beautiful city during the day but the spectacular sight of this ancient city under lights as well.

Day 8: Rosario Islands

Stop At: Islas de Rosario, Islas de Rosario, Cartagena District, Bolivar Department
You’ll be starting your day with a 7:30 am pickup from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. From there we’ll take you to pier de la bodeguita (Wharf of the Bodeguita) where a speedboat will be waiting to take you on a breathtaking ocean cruise touring the Rosario Islands to arrive at a beautiful picturesque beach. Once here you’ll also be assigned your personal beach space, which will be exclusive for yourself and members of your group.

You’ll receive full beach service, a fantastic typical lunch; use of deckchairs and umbrellas; a cocktail on arrival, and English speaking hosts. You will not receive any annoying beach vendors trying to sell you souvenirs or anything you do not wish. You will have the full day to relax and enjoy your space, along with the ability to hire gear for snorkeling, paddleboarding or kayaking.

This will be one of the highlights of your Caribbean adventure!

Day 9: Totumo Mud Volcano

Stop At: Volcan de Lodo El Totumo, Via al Volcan del Totumo, Cartagena Colombia
Enjoy a mud bath in the mineral-rich, world-famous El Volcán de Lodo El Totumo (The mud volcano of Totumo).
Here locals will help you massage the mud onto your body. After your relaxing mud bath, a group of local women will be cleaning your whole body. At the end of this process, you’ll head to the beautiful beaches of Manzanillo del Mar where you’ll enjoy a swim in the tropical waters.

Next, you’ll enjoy a fabulous typical Caribbean lunch including Coconut rice, fried fish, green salad, and patacones (think of them as banana fritters).

Following lunch you’ll explore the Cartagena Mangroves in a canoe skippered by an expert local fisherman; next, you’ll enjoy a walk through their community to see how the locals truly live.
