May 14, 1940: A devastating watershed in the history of Rotterdam. Within fifteen minutes the city center was bombed to the ground by the Nazis. The Second World War and the much-needed post-war reconstruction period are strongly intertwined into the identity of Rotterdam. Your experienced tour guide will explain why the bombardment took place and show you buildings which survived the bombing. During this tour you will also visit The Destroyed City, the most important war memorial in Rotterdam.
