After an early start from the Port, we travel through New Zealand's best farmland, dairy farms, horse studs, & hydro dam - plenty to see on this trip!
As you descend into the world-famous cave you can only marvel at the thousands of tiny glow worms and the wondrous display as your boat glides silently along the subterranean river. In the dark of the cave, their radiant luminescent lights give the impression of an amazingly clear night sky full of stars.
On our return journey we stop at the The Shires Rest Cafe, Hobbiton for a delicious lunch. The Shire is located approx. two kilometers from the Hobbiton Village. This is where the cafe, toilets, booking office & wonderful gift shop are located.
Please note Waitomo Caves, approx. 2:hrs 15: min drive each way through wonderful picturesque country side.

Want to do something different- … Deep underground in the heart of the Waikato is a series of unique caves that will take your breath away. Take this awesome day trip to see the amazing Waitomo Glow-Worm Caves, descending into the world-famous caves enjoy the world famous boat ride as you marvel at the thousands of tiny glow worms and the wondrous display as they radiate their luminescent lights. On the return journey, we stop at the rural township of Otorohonga to view our iconic national bird, the Kiwi at the Otorohanga Kiwi and Native bird sanctuary.

We stop for lunch at the "Shires Rest" Cafe.
