Join-in Shore Excursion to Rostock and Schwerin

The tour begins at the marina in Warnemuende with a meeting with a guide with whom you will reach the train station and take the train to Rostock. Upon arrival, you will take the train to Schwerin, where you will have an acquaintance with the city (about 1 hour), visit Schwerin Castle (with a guide and yourself - about 2 hours) and lunch at a local cafe (included - about 1 hour).
From Schwerin you will take a train to Rostock, where you will get a city tour and visit St. Mary's Church. And there will also be one free hour for walking and shopping.
At the end of the tour, you will return by train back to Warnemuende.

It is one of the most beautiful German palaces, built on the spectacular island on the lake. It's linked by the bridges to the main land. For centuries the palace was the home of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg. Today it is the residence of the local parliament. (losed on Monday. Viewing from outside only)

Schwerin Cathedral was formerly a Roman Catholic cathedral as old as the city itself, dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint John. It was built in Schwerin, North Germany, following the move here of the seat of the Bishopric of the Abodrites. The tall, 117 meter high tower can be seen from far away. It's one of the main landmarks of the area.

The Staatliches Museum Schwerin-Kunstsammlungen (State Art Museum) houses a great collection of 17th-century Dutch paintings and German art from medieval and renaissance masters up to the present day.

The Mecklenburg State Theatre seats 650 people and is used for the performance of plays, opera, musical theatre and ballet. The complex also includes the State Museum and a 240-seat concert hall, now used for performances of chamber works.

St. Mary's Church or Marienkirche, on Ziegenmarkt, is an imposing 13th century Brick Gothic church. Inside there is a unique astronomical clock built in 1472 by Hans Düringer.

The remains of the old City Wall can be found in different areas of Rostock’s old town. The traditional medieval fortification structure used to protect the rich Hanseatic city from the invasions.

Kröpeliner Straße is Rostock's main pedestrian street, that begins at the historical Market square and runs east to the 14th-century Kröpeliner Tor, a former town gate. All Rostock's important buildings can be found around this street, including the University and Town Hall. The buildings of the street are colorful and feature the different styles, like baroque, gothics, neo classical and other.

Kröpeliner Tor is located in the east end of Kröpeliner Straße. It's one of the oldest remaining gates of Germany, dating to 1270. The observation spot on the top offers the great panorama of the city center.

One of the most picturesque places in Rostock is the New Market Square, with the Town Hall. The square has preserved six original, carefully restored gable houses from the 15th and 16th centuries. The other historical houses in Hanseatic style that once bordered the square were destroyed in an Allied air-raid in 1942, and rebuilt in a simplified manner.
