Our one day culural tour to Lori region will help you discover the wonders of Lori and will make you feel the spirit of ancient architecture accompanied with breathtaking nature of the Lori region of Armenia. Our first stop will be monasteries Haghpat and Sanahin, which used to be important educational centres. These two monasteries represent the highest blossoming of Armenian religious architecture between the 10th and 13th centuries.

Stop At: Monastery of Sanahin, Alaverdi 1705 Armenia

The monastery of Sanahin is on the right bank of Debed River. This architectural complex consists of several churches, seminary, book depository. The building of the seminary, which connects St. Astvatsastin (Holy Mother of God) and Allsaviour churches was from the outset built to make the edifices more earthquake resistant.

Stop At: Haghpat Monastery, next to Saint Nshan Church, Haghpat 1722 Armenia

Situated not far from Sanahin Haghpat monastery has its significant place in the historical and cultural life of Armenia. It was built during the reign of king Ashot Bagratuni. Numerous valuable manuscripts and miniature paintings have been produced in the scriptorium of Haghpat for many centuries. In the 18th century the famous Armenian bard Sayat-Nova used to live and create in this monastery. The belfry with its unique architectural composition is of stunning interest.

Stop At: Zarni Parni, H-25, Haghpat Armenia

The ‘‘Zarni-Parni‘‘ cave castle complex is located in a picturesque forest canyon with a delightful panorama view of the Kayan fortress not far from the village of Haghpat renowned for its unique monastery complex in the Province of Lori.
The historical complex consists of the ‘’Zarni er’’ and‘’Parni er’’ castles embodying the strong will and persistence of the participants of the Armenian national liberation struggle, as well as the ‘’Tsak er’’ cave. According to some historical records the XI-XIIc. great scholar and philosopher Hovhannes Imastaser lived and worked in this cave.
These historical monuments had been buried under thick layers of soil and dense forest vegetation. After restoring the road leading to the cave, the area was cleaned up and stone steps were carved up to the ‘’Parni er’’ castle.
