Juan Carlos visited us the evening before to explain the day’s itinerary which was really great because it’s not easy to get to Machu Picchu. He was on time, knowledgeable about the site and took us on the crazy hyuanu Picchu hike, which most certainly is good for you if:1. You want to get a view off the beaten path2. You’re in decent shape3. You can handle heights Juan Carlos helped us with our bag when we started falling apart physically near the top. Between the altitude and the hike we really appreciated that help ha ha. He’s also a pretty good photographer and will make sure you get a good photo or 20. Overall highly recommended we were very happy with the service.

The guide was very nice and helpful. Huayna Picchu is a difficult hike yet a great view and experience. We had very little time and this allowed us to experience Machu Picchu.

The weather wasn’t the best, but our guide, Yaritza, was. Our trip was during the rainy season, which lived up to its name. Despite this, our guide made sure we saw as much as possible and provided a lot of great historical facts. Huayna Picchu is a tough hike, but our guide made sure we were safe.

Wow! Cross Over Tours was fantastic. This day tour was totally personalized. The guide, Juan Carlos, met us at our hotel the previous evening and told us what time to be ready, what to pack, what to wear and what to expect. We were picked up at 3 am in the morning at our hotel. After a 2 hour drive to the train station, we were given first class tickets for the train included in the cost. The first class train ride included drinks and snacks. Rolling cart similar to on a plane. Another hour to Machu Pichu city and then a short bus ride to Machu Pichu also included in the cost. We first walked up Huayna Pichu about 2 hours, then walked down to the Grand Cave, and then back up to meet the trail to go down to Machu Pichu. We did Huaynu Pichu first so that we were done before it got hot. We then toured Machu Pichu.
We highly recommend this tour, this tour company and specifically our guide, Juan Carlos. He is passionate about Peru, is very knowledgeable, extremely helpful and knows how to motivate you to complete the trek. Friendly, sense of humor and just a nice guy. We truly enjoyed this experience.
