The decree of November 5, 1932 ordered that the municipality and head of Santiago Tuxtla be called Juan de la Luz Enríquez. In 1936 its original name of Santiago Tuxtla was restored.
We will visit the monumental Olmec head in the middle of the picturesque town with its museum that keeps important pieces of this culture.
We continue 14 km more to see San Andres Tuxtla one of its famous cigar factories and tobacco plantations in this region, recognized internationally.
