Family friendly scenic float on Te Awa Kairangi, Grade 2

Take the family for a scenic float down Te Awa Kairangi/Hutt River. The river section is a fun and beginner-friendly introduction to whitewater rafting with gentle rapids, easy swimming sections, and rock jumps for more adventurous kids!

The river is flow dependent, so catching the trips after rain makes it a more exciting river tour. Staff at Wellington Rafting are full of life and live to share the fun-loving culture of the river with you.

Itinerary

Customers meeting at our rafting base where they are given river gear to dress into including wetsuits, booties, fleece tops, splash jackets, helmets and life jackets to stay warm and safe on the trip. Customers then raft down the family friendly section of Te Awa Kairangi for some little rapid rides, a waterfall photograph opportunity, and rock jumps for the more adventurous. The river trip is between 1.5 and 2 hours depending on flows. Toilet and changing facilities are provided at the beginning of the river trip.

Traveler pickup is offered
Please see the other booking options for adding a pick-up to your booking. We can collect customers from Wellington train station (outside the front entrance on Bunny Street opposite McDonald's) or Upper Hutt train station. A returning shuttle service to your pick-up point will be provided at the end of your tour.
