Welcome to Romania, the land of Dracula and hidden treasures! As soon as you land at Henri Coanda International Airport (OTP), your guide will be there to greet you and take you to your hotel. If you arrive early, you'll get to tour the old town and experience the unique blend of Western and Eastern European cultures, with the added influence of the communist regime.
After that, you'll explore Bucharest's Old Town, a treasure trove of historical sites and architectural gems. You'll visit Curtea Veche (the Old Court), the first royal court in Bucharest and the residence of Vlad Tepes, also known as Vlad the Impaler. You'll also see the bust of Vlad the Impaler and learn more about his story.

Your journey through the land of the infamous Vlad Tepes continues, as you make your way to the eerie city of Targoviste, once the capital of Wallachia. Here, in this city steeped in history and shrouded in mystery, you will discover the secrets of the Saxon colony that thrived in the 13th century and the economic prosperity that made it a favored residence for the Wallachian princes in the 14th century.
But beware, for this city has a dark past, one that is forever linked to the name of Vlad Tepes. As you walk the streets, you will feel the chilling presence of the Impaler, who rebuilt and fortified the royal court, including the ominous Chindia Tower. As you visit the Princely Church and Chindia Tower, you will be consumed by the tales of Vlad Tepes and his gruesome reign.

After a lunch of nerves and fear, you will venture to the Poenari Fortress, built in the 13th century and restored by Vlad Tepes himself. But Beware, the fortress is under renovation, and it's closed to visitors until 2024.

Later, visit the medieval city of Sibiu, where the legend of Dracula began to spread centuries ago. Spend the rest of the day exploring Sibiu on a walking tour, visiting landmarks such as Brukenthal Museum, the "Holy Trinity" Roman Catholic Cathedral, and the Huet Square with its Evangelical Church. After the tour, you'll have a couple of hours to explore the city on your own, with a suggested list of things to do provided.

On the fourth day of your Dracula Tour, you will embark on a journey to explore the dark and mysterious past of Transylvania. Your first stop will be at the infamous Corvin Castle, also known as Hunyadi Castle, where legend has it that Vlad the Impaler was imprisoned for seven long years. The castle, one of the largest medieval castles in Eastern Europe, is a chilling sight with its imposing Renaissance-Gothic architecture and eerie inner courtyards and soaring towers. It is said that the castle holds many secrets, and the very walls seem to whisper stories of Vlad's dark past.

Next, you will venture deep into the Orastie Mountains to uncover the secrets of the ancient Dacian fortress, Sarmizegetusa Regia. The fort, once the leading military, religious, and political center of the Dacian Empire 2000 years ago, is now nothing but ruins. But, it is said that the spirits of the Dacians still linger there, guarding their sacred zone, a place of worship similar to Stonehenge. You will be able to explore the foundations of the seven temples and the andesite altar, but beware, the spirits of the past may still haunt the place.

After lunch (at your own expense), you will make your way to the village of Densus, where you will visit the Densus Church, believed to be one of the oldest churches in Romania. The church is said to be built on an ancient pagan site, as evidenced by the altar that faces south rather than east, the dove-shaped roof, and the lion statues united by their tails. But, it is also rumored to be the resting place of the Roman general Longinus Maximus, who's spirit may still guard the place. Inside, you will find the 15th-century murals depicting Jesus Christ in traditional Romanian clothing, but it is said that the church holds many more secrets, and the paintings may hold hidden messages.

The citadel was built in the 18th century by the Habsburg Empire and was designed by the architect Giovanni Morando Visconti. It was constructed on the site of an earlier medieval fortress, and it served as the seat of the Transylvanian government and the military garrison.
The Citadel has a star-shaped layout, with a central area surrounded by six bastions, each named after one of the Transylvanian principalities. The central area, known as the Vauban Square, is surrounded by impressive buildings, including the Roman Catholic Cathedral, the Orthodox Cathedral, and the National Museum of Unification.
The citadel has several gates, including the Gate of Honor, which was used by the emperor and the Gate of the Three Fortifications, which was the main entrance for common people. The citadel is also home to the Batthyaneum Library, which contains an impressive collection of ancient books and manuscripts.

The mine covers an area of over 45 hectares and is up to 120 meters deep. It has three main levels and numerous chambers, some of which are enormous.
The mine features a number of attractions, including a large underground lake, an amphitheater, a Ferris wheel, and a mini-golf course. There are also numerous salt formations and sculptures that have been created by the mining process over the years.
Health benefits: Due to the high concentration of salt in the air, the mine is said to have numerous health benefits, including improving respiratory conditions such as asthma and allergies.
It is a popular tourist destination and one of the most impressive salt mines in the world.
