10/10
Our family -- two adults, plus 12- and 10-year-old sons -- consider this to be one of the top highlights of our Parisian vacation. My 12-year-old son in particular has been interested in D-Day for several years now, and we all appreciated the opportunity to visit these important sites. Pascal was an excellent guide. He has an incredible about of knowledge about D-Day and World War II in general, along with the history and geography of Normandy, and did a fantastic job of putting everything into context in a way that even the kids could understand. In particular we appreciated that this tour included a stop at the American Cemetery; we noticed that the other tour groups we encountered at Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach weren't there, or at the battery overlooking Gold Beach. This tour is very thorough in visiting many important D-Day sites and so I highly recommend it for anyone, including families, who wants to see as many of the sites as possible.
Guide was very good. Lots of great information. Very friendly in spite of one passenger who was negative and rude.
A deeply moving day made all the more meaningful by our guide Pascal’s knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject. If you’re hesitant about doing this visit in a day trip from Paris - do it! A memorable day that you will treasure.
We had an outstanding tour with Nicolas to Normandy. The day was well planned and our guide was knowledgeable and could share his own personal stories of his family living in occupied France. The day leaves you with an appreciation for all that was won and lost in Normandy and World War II. Highly recommended tour!
Guide was excellent, paced the day perfectly, with breaks every couple of hours. Was a wealth of knowledge, explaining everything as we went along. Know ahead of time that its a full day - 6:30 to 6:30.
This is an excellent trip. Our guide Rudi was outstanding. A must-do for WW2 buffs. Highly recommend!
A long trip but very worth it. Our tour guide was excellent and so informative. Was very considerate of all the quest.
Excellent tour. The guide met us at a central location. We traveled about 3 hours in a comfortable van to Normandy. Along the way the driver/guide pointed out several interesting sites and explained the history of the area and a lot about the WW II. We visited Omaha Beach, Utah Beach and the American cemetery during the tour. The guide lead us the each location and explained the highlights and gave us free time to look and explore on our own. The lunch stop was was reasonable and the food was excellent. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
The most thought provoking and memorable experience of our two week trip to London and Paris. Our guide/driver was amazing and provided safe transport and exceptional knowledge the entire day. All of the communications from Viator were timely and the entire trip went like clockwork. I highly recommend using their service for this trip.
My family and I wanted to take a day trip from Paris to Normandy as this was on my dad's bucket list. The amount of info and knowledge Pascal shared was amazing. The stops were ideal and gave us the best experience of Normandy from a D-Day perspective. Driving experience felt super safe and not too bad considering the distance from Paris. Would recommend to anyone interested in this part of history that has limited time for a visit.
Our guide, Nicolas, was fantastic. During the drive to Normandy, he provided background on the Normandy battles and prepped us on what we were going to see and do for the day. He even had a microphone setup so those in the back could hear him clearly. The day was rather windy and cool, but luckily we only had drizzle, not full-out rain for the day. Take an umbrella and a windbreaker no matter what because the forecast changes rapidly. The American cemetery was incredibly moving. Nicolas took us to particular crosses and told us stories of those particular soldiers. He also gave us time at each location to wander around individually, which I really appreciated. This is HIGHLY recommended! The only downside for us is that we had the maximum capacity of people and the van was quite crowded.
My tour checked all the boxes for my bucket-list of walking on Omaha Beach and seeing where the US soldiers came ashore on D-Day. I also got to see Point-du-hoc and explore the German fortifications.
Our tour guide was excellent and very informative. She also put up with my desire to stay a bit longer at Omaha Beach and I appreciate her understanding. My one suggestion would be to point out the locations of German bunkers still in existence at Omaha Beach and tell us where the bunkers, now gone, were located June 6, 1944. I would have liked to have seen and been able to spend some time at the monuments and statues at Omaha Beach. We weren't given that opportunity. These are minor inconveniences compared to the wonderful experience I enjoyed at the American Cemetery at Normandy. My guide was instrumental in creating a personal visit and ceremony at the grave site of a family member who died during the Normandy invasion. That visit to his grave site will never be forgotten and would not have happened were it not for my tour guide.
Thank you !
Our guide Nicolas was so great! He was very informative and funny. We saw so much on this trip, but of course we wish we saw more. There's just too much to see. We weren't able to spend as much time at the Overlord Museum as my husband would have liked. It had a huge collection of German, American and British artifacts. The place we stopped for lunch was wonderful. Great food. Overall it was a long day, but we saw so much! We would definitely recommend!
Excellent tour, super tour guide, selected very good restaurant, would do again! Great value with hotel pick up!
Very moving experience, especially the American cemetery. Guide was excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable.
While in Paris recently my friend and I had the desire to take a day trip to Normandy - primarily Omaha Beach and the American cemetery. I have used Viator in the past and been pleased with the quality of the tour. This tour was the best I have taken with them. We had a very small group - just myself and my friend and one other couple. We met our guide Fabrice at the appointed time and place and left for the drive north. Our guide was excelllent. Very personable and extremely knowledgeable. He spoke excellent English and it was apparent right from the start that he was genuinely interested in making our trip as pleasant as possible and wanted to make sure we had the experience we hoped for when scheduling the tour. He pointed out sites along the way and did an excellent job of answering any and all of our questions. The vehicle was very comfortable and clean. We visited Pointe Du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the American cemetery and a museum. We had a nice lunch at a local place and even had time to stop in Arromanches. He returned us to Paris on time. It was an excellent day and I highly recommend this tour.
Max is an excellent guide and very personable. He picked us up at our hotel and drove to Normandy. Following the activities of the 75th Anniversary, there were still flowers and wreaths from various dignitaries in evidence. Seeing the beaches and Point du Hoc is a very sobering experience. Normandy area is beautiful. Max took us to a local restaurant for lunch (try the local cider). We returned to our local Paris hotel about 7 pm.
We loved our day trip to the Normandy beaches! Our tour guide was very informative, and with the small group style (only 6 of us), we had plenty of opportunity to ask questions. We even had a chance to squeeze in one more sight because there were so few of us, we were ahead of time! Really enjoyed this trip, and being picked up directly from our Paris hotel was a dream. Highly recommend!
The trip was well organized and didn’t feel like we were rushed through everything. Very emotional and thought provoking to see the fortifications and landscaping soldiers had to overcome to free Europe from the evil that gripped it for several years. Will recommend this for anyone wanting to see for fast day trip. Of course more time is always needed to see everything. Also don’t forget the rich culture of the northern France reign as well that needs to be visited on its own.
Great recommend and worth time and money!
The trip was great our guide was outstanding I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Paris who wants to experience what the troops went through the D-Day magic overlord period our guide was terrific his name was Nicholas the bed was very comfortable the staffs were well planned and no one's venue restaurant was terrific!
This was an excellent event. Nicholas, our guide, was excellent and gave a balanced overview of the events leading up to D-Day......full of useful and interesting information. It was a long, full day, 6:30 am ‘til 7:00 pm but well worth it. I would recommend it for families with children old enough to understand the events leading up to D-Day. Very sobering.
Absolutely amazing!! Our guide was an expert and the trip was comfortable. The small group of 7 made a big difference in how personal the explanations were.
Vincent was a fantastic guide. He is a walking, talking history book. Wonderful knowledge of the D Day invasion. Long day but so worth the time. Very moving experience.
We had signed up for a small tour but were the only ones on the tour. Thank you to our tour guide for not cancelling the tour. He worked with us to make sure we saw everything we wanted to. I had my 12 year old grandson with me and he also enjoyed this tour.
