Meet in the North Beach neighborhood – a 10-minute walk from Downtown San Francisco. Following your expert local guide, delve behind the scenes of Little Italy’s food and restaurant scene, hearing fascinating historical facts and stories along the way, like how this neighborhood was once part of the Barbary Coast – San Francisco’s red-light district in the 1800s during the California Gold Rush. You'll also visit hidden Prohibition-era tunnels where booze was smuggled into the city. Though you’ll learn a lot of interesting history, this tour is about the food. Come taste California's version of Italian cuisine focusing on local, fresh ingredients, This tour focuses on quality over quantity as its for a true foodie. Each of the 4-courses rotates, so you'll always be visiting the best local restaurants. Guests may enjoy cioppino to charcuterie to pizza to arancini to cannoli or gelato. You’ll find that all the tastings add up to a 4-course progressive meal - a perfect lunch for an average sized eater. Your tour ends in the evening a few blocks from your original departure point, where you’re free to continue exploring this fabulous San Francisco neighborhood bustling with vibrant nightlife.

Want to experience Alcatraz while in San Francisco- Learn about Alcatraz’s famous inmates on this island prison. Take the ferry from Pier 33 and spend a few hours wandering through the prison cells and learning about Al Capone, The Birdman, and “Machine Gun” Kelly. Your Alcatraz ticket is for a morning departure and our North Beach Food Tour departs at 3pm. You should take the 2:15pm ferry back from Alcatraz to arrive in time for your food tour
