Pack-free Camping: Blue Lakes Eco Hike - 3 Days

Pack-free Camping: Blue Lakes Eco Hike - 3 Days

EXPERIENCE HIKING DIFFERENTLY!

This pack-free camping hike experience is a self-guided hiking experience with a twist of comfort! It lets you enjoy the thrills of camping and hiking, with a bit of pampering! These hikes include a 4WD transfer to the trailhead and a 4wd pick up at the end locations of the hike. They also ensure hikers only carry a small day pack whilst hiking. The support crew will drop off all equipment (other belongings, tent, food, etc.) and set up your camp ahead of you, making for a relaxing, easy hiking experience. Glamping hikes are a great way to enjoy the pristine beauty of Fraser Island without having to carry a heavy pack all day!

DAY 1 - 13.5km

Start your adventure with an experience of a lifetime. Take a Fraser Dingo 4WD transfer to the Dilli Village Great Walk access point to begin the hike. In the morning hikers are able to leave their overnight bags with clothing etc. with the Fraser Dingo transfer vehicle to be dropped at their camp later in the day. This lets hikers carry day packs with necessities, such as water, snacks and rain jackets. Begin the 6.3km hike through spectacular forest to Lake Boomanjin. Once arrived enjoy the lake and eat your packed lunch. After lunch continue hiking another 7.2km to Lake Benaroon where the camp is set up and the support crew have the makings of dinner and overnight bags waiting.

DAY 2 - 14.1km

Wake up to the peaceful serenity of the bush, enjoy a light breakfast and morning swim in the lake before embarking on the second day of the hike. In the morning you will hike 7.5km, via Lake Birribeen to Central Station, where lunch will be provided. After lunch you will then hike 6.6km to Lake McKenzie, via Basin Lake. Once you've reached Lake McKenzie you can enjoy a peaceful afternoon swim and watch the sunset. Enjoy to cook up a camp meal with all the makings provided.

DAY 3 - 15.1km

Wake up for sunrise on the beautiful famous Lake McKenzie and start the morning with a fresh swim and quick breakfast before beginning the last day of hiking. After breakfast you will hike 12km to Lake Wabby, where you can have a bush picnic lunch at the Lake Wabby Hikers camp. You will then be able to relax in the afternoon, take a swim in Lake Wabby and enjoy before returning. Hikers will do a short walk from Lake Wabby back to the Eastern Beach where the 4WD transfer awaits. The 4WD will take you back to the Kingfisher Barge landing where you will be able to enjoy an afternoon drink at the Jetty Hut before boarding the barge to return to Hervey Bay!
