Tilicho Lake (4919m) is known for being the highest lake in the world and is located in Manang District of Nepal in the Annapurna region. Among the trekking routes in the Annapurna region, Tilicho Lake trek has been growing as a popular destination for nature lovers. Tilicho Lake Trek unquestionably provides some of the world's amazing and thrilling views, the great variability of culture and diversity, finest deep gorges, and high peaks adjoining the massive Annapurna Himal.

 Tilicho Lake Trek begins from Chame and goes along the Marsayangdi River, with amazing views of Manaslu (8156m) and Himalchuli (7893m) to the east. For the lovers of Mother Nature, it is a wonderful opportunity to be amid the pristine hills (barren and green), snowy mountains, rugged settlements, and challenging paths that lead to the tranquil Tilicho Lake.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (760m/2493ft)

Stop At: Besisahar 33600, Nepal
You will take a drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar.The route will go along the Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway to Dumre that will further follow the narrow and paved road by the Marsayangdi River and reach Besisahar. From here,you will get an opportunity to witness the snow-capped mountains like Annapurna II (7937m) and Machhapuchhre (6997m) and beautiful landscapes. Additionally, you will get a chance to experience the lifestyle, culture, and traditions of locals living in the Besisahar.

Day 2: Trek Beshisahar to Bahundanda (1310m/4298ft)

Stop At: Besisahar, Lamjung, 69PC+PPV, Besisahar 33600, Nepal
From today your trek begins, you will walk along the banks of the Marsayangdi River and cross the suspension bridge towards Bhulbhule. Gradually, you will trek steeply towards Bahundanda, which will be a 2-hour walk. You will get to observe and enjoy the exquisite views of snow-covered peaks, and the daily life of people of the Gurung community.

Day 3: Trek Bahundanda to Chamje (1430m/4692ft)

Stop At: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
After having a warm breakfast, you will begin your trek towards Chamje(Chyamch). The trail heads downwards to Syange (1100m) and after that, you will cross a thrilling suspension bridge over the Marsayangdi River and go along the same river to reach Jagat. You'll be taking a gentle hike through a forested trail that leads to the picturesque village of Chamje. The trail is short and easy, making it a pleasant journey.

Day 4: Trek Chamje to Bagarchhap (2160m/7087ft)

Stop At: Chamje, C9QQ+6HG, Besisahar - Chame Sadak, 33600, Nepal
After having a warm breakfast, you will begin your trek towards Chamje(Chyamch). The trail heads downwards to Syange (1100m) and after that, you will cross a thrilling suspension bridge over the Marsayangdi River and go along the same river to reach Jagat. Day 5: Trek Bagarchhap to Chame(2650m/8694ft)

Stop At: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
From Bagarchhap, you will trek towards Chame which is the headquarter of Manang District.The trail is easy to walk and you will hike through forests and reach Koto village, which is popularly known for it’s incredible landscapes and diverse cultural experiences.Enroute you will have an opportunity to witness the captivating peaks of Annapurna ll, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu Himal. From here you will continue walking towards Chame where you will observe the culture and traditions of people who moved from Tibet a long time ago.

Day 6: Trek Chame to Pisang (3100m/10171ft)

Stop At: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
YYou will continue your trek through the deep forest in a narrow and steep valley crossing two bridges, one at 2,910 meters and another at 3,040 meters. You can view beautiful snow-capped Lamjung Himal (6983m) and other mountains. Further, you will follow the trail to climb to Pisang and after some rest, you can visit the monastery and get a beautiful view of Annapurna II (7937m).

Day 7: Trek Pisang to Manang (3540m/11614ft)

Stop At: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
You'll start your ascent on a steep ridge that offers stunning vistas of Manang Valley and Tilicho Peak, which stands at 7,134 meters. As you descend through Humde, Manang's airstrip at 3,280 meters, you'll catch a glimpse of the northeast face of Annapurna III, which stands at 7,555 meters. Continuing on foot, you'll soon be treated to a breathtaking view of Annapurna IV, which reaches 7,525 meters. After crossing a wooden bridge over the Marsayangdi Khola, a short but steep climb will bring you to Manang.

Day 8: Acclimatization day at Manang village

Stop At: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
Today is a rest day for you to adjust to the higher altitude. Manang, despite being a remote location, is a sizable village. Take the opportunity to explore the village and engage with the locals. Observe their way of life, ancient culture, and traditions. If you have time, visit the stunning Gangapurna Lake. You will spend the night at a guesthouse upon your return.

Day 9: Trek Manang Village to Khangsar Village (3734m/12251ft)

Stop At: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
Today, you will continue your journey by following the path that leads to the river. You will cross Khangsar Khola by crossing a bridge and then ascend the slope to Khangsar Village. This village is a typical Tibetan-style settlement and is also considered the last village of Nepal. You will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 10: Trekking Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4150m/13615ft)

Stop At: Tilichol Lake, Manang Nepal
As you embark on your trek, you'll come across a Gompa and follow a newly constructed trail up towards a high ridge. At this point, you'll notice two routes - an old and challenging one, and a newer, easier option. Opt for the latter and continue until you reach the crest, then descend along steep slopes to a side valley. Your destination for the night will be Tilicho Base Camp.

Day 11: Trek to Tilicho Lake (4920m/16142ft) & Tilicho Base Camp (4150m/13615ft)

Stop At: Tilichol Lake, Manang Nepal
To make the most of your trek, it's best to start early in the morning to avoid the strong winds that tend to pick up later in the day due to the mixing of warm land and cold air. The journey from Base Camp to Tilicho Lake will take approximately 3 to 4 hours, but the stunning views of the cold and remote lake are well worth it. After taking in the breathtaking scenery, you can make your way back to Base Camp where you'll spend the night.

Day 12: Trek Tillicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (4050m/13287ft)

Stop At: Yak Kharka, PQPM+G92, मुक्तिनाथ सडक, Jomsom 33100, Nepal
To reach Yak Kharka, you'll need to descend slowly from Tilicho Base Camp and climb 500 meters. As you make your way through Tengi, you'll leave behind the Marsayangdi Valley and head towards the Thorung Khola. After that, you'll reach Yak Kharka, where you'll encounter herds of yaks and notice the vegetation becoming scarce.

Day 13: Trek Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4525m/14845ft)

Stop At: Thorong Phedi Thorong La Trail, QXP4+V6W, Thorong Phedi - Thorong La Rd, Tanki Manang 33500, Nepal
Start your day with a satisfying breakfast, then begin your ascent towards a ridge before gradually descending towards the Kone River. Upon arrival, cross the river via a wooden bridge and continue on a narrow trail that leads to a short ascent on the right. Finally, descend to reach Thorong Phedi where you will spend the night at a guesthouse.

Day 14: Trek to Muktinath (3760m/12336ft) via Thorung La pass (5416m/17769ft)

Stop At: Thorangla Pass, Manang Nepal
Today, you have a long trek ahead of you to reach Muktinath. The journey will begin early in the morning, and you'll make your way to the Thorang La Pass. The high altitude and extreme snow can pose some challenges, but your experienced guide will be there to assist you. As you reach the pass, you'll see Chortens and colorful prayer flags. After continuing your walk for around four hours, you'll arrive at Muktinath, a renowned holy site for Hindu Pilgrims. Hundreds of pilgrims from around the world visit this place every year. While you're there, be sure to check out the Jwala Mai Temple, which features a beautiful natural spring and a permanent flame fueled by natural gas.

Day 15: Trek Muktinath to Jomsom (2720m/8924ft)

Stop At: Jomsom Muktinath Trek, Nepal
To reach Jomsom, you can follow the trail of Kagbeni or Lupra. Your trek will take you along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River. Jomsom is a picturesque and chilly valley with plenty of amenities. It serves as the headquarters of the Mustang district. While in Jomsom, you'll be treated to stunning views of Mt. Tilicho (7,134 m).

Day 16: Morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. 30-minute flight

Stop At: Phewa Tal (Fewa Lake), Pokhara Nepal
Today, you'll need to wake up early to catch a morning flight to Pokhara. During your flight, you'll be able to enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains. Once you arrive in Pokhara, you'll be escorted to your hotel where you can take a day to rest. Later in the evening, you can explore the serene atmosphere of the lakeside by taking a walk.

Day 17: Leisure day and Sightseeing Pokhara

Stop At: Pokhara Museum, Pokhara Nepal
Today, you will visit the most famous places of Pokhara like Davis Falls, World Peace Pagoda, and Mahendra Cave. You will also have an opportunity to do some boating on the beautiful Phewa Lake. You can also do other adventurous activities such as paragliding, helicopter tour, bungee jumping, and cycling. You can also buy souvenirs for your loved ones from the famous lakeside market.

Day 18: Pokhara- Kathmandu (1300m/4265ft).
