7-Day Self-Drive-Tour Senja Island from Tromsø - Nature & Culture Holiday

This self-driven tour is really at your own pace. You can stop as you please and for as long as you prefer. This tour has a focus on the cultural aspects of Senja and Tromsø that are often over looked by travellers as they are not well known. Guests will be provided with a detailed information package after purchase providing information on each out, links to our maps with great spots for hikes or all levels, photography locations and other important points of interest.

Day 1: Explore Tromsø & have dinner around the campfire in the fjords

Enjoy a guided tour through our local fjords, mountains and valleys followed by an enjoyable campfire dinner.

Take a walk through Tromsø city and explore the water front.

Explore areas on neighbouring Whale island.

Day 4: Road Trip - Skaland to Stonglandseidet with Culture stop

Stop At: Bergsbotn, Senja 9385 Norway
Stop for a photo and take in the breath taking view over Bergsbotn. This picturesque location is iconic!

Stop At: Kaperdalen Freiluft Museum, Senja, Norway
Visit the open air museum for a culture stop on your way to Stonglandseidet. Learn about traditional building styles and way of living in beautiful surroundings.

Pass through this sleepy village and follow along a lush lake, pass over a bountiful river system. Great photo opportunities!

Stop At: Ånderdalen National Park, Senja, Norway
Pass by this huge national park, you can stop and go for a hike, a beach walk and take amazing photos.

Stop At: Stonglandseidet, Norway
Arrive to cosy Stonglandseidet. Once you are settled into your accommodation why not go for a walk along a lonely and quiet beach.

Day 5: Explore the south of Senja

Stop At: Gammelbutikken in Skrolsvik, Skrolsvikveien 1829, Senja 9392 Norway
Visit this wonderful and eclectic store in Skrolsvik, just a short journey from Stonglandseidet. They serve coffee and waffles if you are feeling peckish.

Day 6: Senja - Tromsø

Stop At: Sážžá, Senja, Norway
Depart your accommodation in the morning and visit Sazza. Learn about local Sami culture and way of life.

Pass through Finnsnes as you depart Senja Island.

Pass By: Nordkjosbotn, Nordkjosbotn, Balsfjord Municipality, Troms, Northern Norway
Follow the fjord on your way to Tromsø. We recommend to stop in Nordkjosbotn to freshen up, stretch your legs and refuel if needed.

Arrive to Tromsø at your leisure.

Stop At: Fjellheisen, Sollivegen 12, 9020 Tromsdalen, Norway
We recommend to walk over the bridge to see the Arctic cathedral and up the cable car (or take the Sherpa trail). These have entrance costs not included in the price.
At the top of Fjellheisen, Fløya you can enjoy a coffee, meal or alcoholic beverage with a stunning view of the entire Tromsø Island.

Day 7: End of self-drive tour
