The Valley of the Kings, also known as the Valley of the Gates of the Kings, is a valley in Egypt where, for a period of nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, rock cut tombs were excavated for the pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom.This desert valley contains the ancient burial ground of many Egyptian pharaohs. Among over 60 royal tombs is the famous Tomb of Tutankhamen that was found in pristine condition.

Hatshepsut Tempel is a complex of mortuary temples & tombes ِِA first mortuary temple built at the site was from Mentuhotep II of the Eleventh Dynasty,constructed during the 15th century BCE.the royal architect Senenmut, oversaw the construction of the temple.Although the adjacent, earlier mortuary temple of Mentuhotep II was used as a model, the two structures are nevertheless significantly different in many ways.Hatshepsut's temple employs a lengthy, colonnaded terrace that deviates from the centralised structure of Mentuhotep’s model anomaly that may be caused by the decentralized location of her burial chamber.The three layered terraces reaching 29.5 m (97 ft) tall.Each story is articulated by a double colonnade of square piers,with the exception of the northwest corner of the central terrace, which employs proto-Doric columns to house the chapel.The terraces are connected by long ramps which were once surrounded by gardens with foreign plants including frankincense &myrrh trees.

This ancient complex is dominated by the massive memorial temple of Ramses III, similar to the mortuary temple of Ramses II at Ramesseum.The Temple of Habu was one of the most magnificent that we experienced in the Luxor area. While the structure has similarities to the Temple of Karnak and Luxor Temple, the Habu Temple has very profound etchings covering nearly all of the stone walls and columns. The heiroglyph etchings are cut deeply into the stone surfaces and many etchings still retain their vibrant colors even after so many centuries. This was probably the most dramatic art we have seen in Egypt. Definitely a must see attraction when in Luxor.
