Jeju Seogwipo Oedolgae is a stone pillar about 20m in height and 7-10m in width created by the erosion of waves in the lava field erupted from a volcanic eruption. The name Oedolgae comes from the fact that a rock stands alone in the sea. Oedolgae was designated as Scenic Beauty No. 79 in 2011 along with Sanbangsan Mountain (Scenic Spot No. 77) and Soesokkak (Scenic Spot No. 78). Oedolgae is also called 'General Rock' and 'Grandma Rock', and each has a legend related to its name.

Pass By: Yongmeori Beach, 181-1 Sagye-ri, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, Jeju Island South Korea

용머리해안
Yongmeori Coast is located at the foot of Sanbangsan Mountain and extends to the coast. It is called Yongmeori Coast because it resembles the head of a dragon going into the sea. Layers of sandstone rock walls built up over tens of millions of years have been carved by waves to form strange cliffs. The traces of the waves kept in the cave room or the rock wall, which is hollow like a secret room hit by waves, make you feel the grandeur of facing a long history. The spectacular scenery of the 30-50m-long cliffs meandering has been filmed as a background for commercials and movies.

A narrow but flat wave grove has developed in front of the sea cliff, serving as a trail that allows you to go around the Yongmeori Coast. It takes about 30 minutes to look around. In case of bad weather or high tide, entry is prohibited due to high risk. As you walk along the sandstone layer, haenyeo (haenyeo) sell seafood on stalls in the coastal area.

Stop At: Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff, 36-30, Ieodo-ro, Seogwipo, Jeju Island 63547 South Korea

Columnar joints are 4- to 6-square pillars that look as if they were delicately carved with a sharp carving knife, and are vertical joints that appear in basaltic lava flows. It was formed as a result of the contraction process that occurs when thick lava flows from a crater and cools rapidly. You can enjoy the mystery of nature as the hexagonal stone pillars, which stand on top of each other as if they were stacked stairs, are surrounded like a folding screen. The waves crashing against the pillars are also a captivating sight, and in severe cases, a ‘show’ is held that soars more than 20 meters in height, capturing the soul of those who see it. The Jungmun and Daepo coast columnar joints are the largest in Korea, with a height of 30 to 40 m and a width of about 1 km, and are designated as Jeju Island Natural Monument No. 443.
