Stop At: Big Cottonwood Canyon Rd Uintah-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, Salt Lake City, UT 84121

Big Cottonwood Canyon features two of the many ski resorts that surround the Salt Lake Valley, Solitude and Brighton. Big Cottonwood has is home to waterfalls, lakes and incredible mountain views.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah

Little Cottonwood Canyon is home to two ski resorts near Salt Lake, Snowbird, and Alta. Not only is this one of the prettiest drives in the area, it also is the location that the granite used for the Salt Lake Temple, Conference Center, and exterior of the Capital Building was quarried from.

Stop At: American Fork Canyon Road, American Fork, UT 84003

This is a very popular area for hiking and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are April through October. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.

Stop At: Gloria Falls, Flat Campground Rd, Salt Lake City, UT 84092

Experience this 2.2-mile out-and-back trail near Mounthaven, Utah. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a very popular area for hiking and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are April through October. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.
