Relaxed day trip to Hardanger Fjord with waffles and coffee incl.
This new tour in 2024 takes you to the Hardangerfjord, the third longest fjord in the world and one of the most beautiful regions in this wonderful country.
On this tour, you will discover breathtaking landscapes at a leisurely and relaxed pace. We start after breakfast and bring you back to your hotel in time for dinner. You will learn a lot about the country and its people on this tour.
We take our lunch break at Norheimsund, you also have the opportunity to visit a cider farm, from where you have a wonderful view of the fjord.
We stop at a viewpoint at the Hardanger Bridge. Later the route takes us through the small town of Odda, which lies at the far end of the Hardangerfjord.
Here norwegian waffles and coffee await us here in a very cozy bistro, right on the fjord.
We then drive through the 11 km Folgefonn Tunnel.
Our ferry leaves Jondal at 18:20, the crossing takes about 20 minutes. The return journey to your hotel then only takes 1.5 hours.

Stop At: Trengereid, Norway
We've now been on the road for just over half an hour, time for a short stop. We stop at the viewpoint in Trengereid, from where we have a fantastic view of the East Fjord and the island of Osterøy. There is also a small bakery and public toilets here.
WE STAY HERE FOR 15 MINUTES, DRIVING TIME TO THE NEXT STOP IS ABOUT 35 MINUTES

Stop At: Steinsdalsfossen, Mo ved Steinsdalen, 5600 Norheimsund, Norway
The Steinsdalsfossen waterfall near Norheimsund is spectacular. You can walk along the back of it without getting wet.
Steinsdalsfossen was formed when the river sought a new course in 1699 and has a height of approx. 50 m. A path leads behind the waterfall so that you can get between the rock face and the water without getting wet, it is one of the most visited waterfalls in Norway.
The tourist information and public toilets are located directly at the car park. A short path over an old stone arch bridge then leads you to the waterfall. If you like, you can also stop off at a cosy café located directly behind the bridge and listen to the rushing of the stream.

Stop At: Norheimsund, Norheimsund, Kvam, Hardanger, Hordaland, Western Norway
We then drive on to Norheimsund, the journey time is only about 10 minutes. If you want, you can get off and spend your lunch break here. The bus then continues with the guests who want to go to Spildegarden Sider Farm.
In Norheimsund there are several restaurants and also a small shopping center with a bistro. The city is beautifully situated directly on the Hardanger Fjord.
We stay at this place for about an hour. The driver will show you where the bus will leave from. The journey time to the next stop is approximately one hour.

Stop At: Spildegarden, Nedre Vik 78, 5610 Øystese, Norway
The bus then takes us directly to Spildegarden Sider Farm. app. 10 min. Here we can enjoy snacks and cider. (Unfortunately not included in the price of this tour) The dining room is very cozy with a fireplace. From the courtyard you have a spectacular view over the Hardangerfjord.
If you wish, you can also be dropped off in the center of Norheimsund. We stay at this place for about an hour.

Pass By: Hardanger Bridge, Ulvik Norway
After a little less than an hour's drive, we reach the Hardanger Bridge. Before the bridge was completed in 2013, ferries ran every 20 to 60 minutes, the crossing took around 10 minutes. The bridge has a total length of 1,380 m and a height of 55 meters and was the longest bridge in Norway and 10th longest in the world when it opened. If the weather is nice and time permits, we can stop here after crossing the bridge to go to a viewpoint and take a few photos.

A picturesque drive along the Hardanger Fjord to Odda now awaits us. The fjord will now be close to our right the entire time. Apple and cherry orchards rise up to the left. There are always individual cottages to be seen, beautifully situated on the fjord. We drive through the small village of Kinsarvik. From here the ferry departs for Utne.
Stop At: Odda, Odda, Hardanger, Hordaland, Western Norway
We drive towards the outermost tip of the Hardangerfjord, where the small town of Odda is located. Around 1900, this town was the most popular destination for wealthy summer visitors, at times even the most visited place.
On the winding roads you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Hardangerfjord and the surrounding mountains. The road runs along the coast and offers panoramic views of crystal-clear water and rugged cliffs. Along the way you will pass picturesque fishing villages, each with its own charm and history.
Weather and time permitting, we will make a photo stop along the way. In Odda we will stop at the café and restaurant Smeltehuset for freshly baked waffles and a cup of coffee. The cozy atmosphere of the café is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the picturesque view of the Hardangerfjord. WE STAY HERE FOR HALF AN HOUR AND THE JOURNEY TO THE FERRY TAKES ABOUT 45 MINUTES.

The ferry from Jondal to Tørvikbygd departs at 18:20 on the dot. We cross the main arm of the Hardangerfjord here. There are toilets and a self-service café on the ferry. THE FERRY CROSSING TAKES 20 MINUTES.

At 18:40 the ferry docks in Tørvikbygd. From here, we make our way directly to Bergen.
Stop At: Bergen, Bergen, Hordaland, Western Norway
The drive back to Bergen takes about an hour and a half. Arrival at your Hotel in Bergen Shortly after 8 p.m
In most restaurants in Bergen, the kitchen closes at 9 pm. So you still have enough time to find a suitable place for your dinner.
