3-Day Private Hiking Tour in Taroko Gorge

This tour is for those looking to go deeper. We’ll begin with a trip down the coast, pausing for a rest beneath the dramatic cliffs for which the area is justly known before heading into Taroko Gorge for the first of two hikes. The Shakadang Trail is a relatively level 3KM round-trip hike that follows the river and offers impressive views at every turn. The Zhuilu Historic Trail (originally built by the Japanese military) is significantly more challenging, being both twice as long and requiring some serious climbing; at points you’ll find yourself looking down into the gorge far below. You’ll also experience an evening riverside shrimp BBQ on the river, two nights in 4-star hotel luxury, a trip to a chilled out night market in Hualien, and a few other surprises.

Itinerary

Day 1: From Taipei to Taroko Gorge

Pass By: Taroko National Park, No.291, Fushi Fushi Vil., Xiulin 97253 Taiwan
Entering Taroko Gorge, we'll hit the Shakadang trail for the first hike of the tour. It’s an mostly level 3km hike, and you’ll be able to dip your feet into azure waters of the Shakadang river along the way

Stop At: Shakadang Trail, Taroko National Park, Fushi Village, Xiulin Township, Xiulin 972 Taiwan
Our tour guide will lead travelers to walk through scenic valley with impressive marble rocks
Duration: 30 minutes

Pass By: Qingshui Cliff, Su-hua highway from Herping to Chungte, Xiulin 97253 Taiwan
After picking up travelers at Taipei, our tour guide will take travelers to head down the beautiful east coast highway, passing windswept coast and dramatic cliffs along the way.

Day 2: Taroko Gorge - Zhuilu Historic Trail - Hualien Night Market

Stop At: Zhuilu Old Trail, Taroko Gorge, Xiulin Taiwan
Traveler will experience one of the most spectacular hikes in the world. A light lunch will be available on the way to the trail.
Duration: 5 hours

Day 3: Return to Taipei

If the weather’s cool we’ll make a leisurely pit stop to tour and taste at the famous Kavalan Whiskey Distillery (whose single malt was named the world’s best at the 2015 World Whiskey Awards). If it's warm, we’ll stop for a swim at beautiful Wai’ao beach.
