Sake Tasting at Local Breweries in Kobe

In this experience, you will get to visit 4 of our favorite breweries located in the Nada area of Kobe. You will taste the differences between sakes—the highest quality, unfiltered, unpasteurized, and many other seasonable sakes. This tour includes an enriching experience in sake production. You will not only get to taste a wide variety of sake but also learn to appreciate and differentiate all of them. A friendly English-speaking guide is present to answer any of your questions along the way. Come and join this thrilling experience!

Stop At: Izumisyuzou inc., 1-chōme-9-6 Mikagetsukamachi, Higashinada Ward, Kobe, Hyogo 658-0044, Japan

This is the smallest brewery we will visit. It is run by four workers. They make 40,000 bottles a year. They make very high quality sake.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Kobe Shu-shin-kan Breweries, 1-8-17 Mikagetsukamachi, Higashinada-Ku, Kobe 658-0044 Hyogo Prefecture

250-year-old, mid-sized brewery with about 13 workers.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Okage Tofuan, 5-7-3 Mikagehommachi, Higashinada-Ku, Kobe 658-0046 Hyogo Prefecture

Snack time! Try some silky or deep-fried handmade tofu from a family-run business. Oishii!

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum, 4-5-5 Sumiyoshi Minamimachi, Higashinada-Ku, Kobe 658-0041 Hyogo Prefecture

This is the biggest sake brewery in Japan with an interactive museum. Here we will try sake, yuzu, and plum sake.

Stop At: Hamafukutsuru Ginjo Brewery, 4-4-6 Uozakiminamimachi, Higashinada-Ku, Kobe 658-0025 Hyogo Prefecture

One of the smallest breweries which has craft, unfiltered, and unpasteurized sakes. It has a locally-famous eighty-year-old sake master.
