The largest Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery in the Somme.

Stop At: Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial, Rue de l'Eglise, 80300 Beaumont-Hamel France

A Memorial Park for the Newfoundland Regiment where the battlefield has been preserved as it was, here we walk through authentic trenches used on 1st July 1916, the fist day of the Batlle of the Somme.

Commemorating over 73,000 missing of the British Army, mainly from the horrendous year - 1916 - the Battle of the Somme.

Stop At: Windmill Memorial, D929, 80300 Pozieres France

The highest point in the Somme. The triangle of farm fields facing the Windmill Site contain the greatest concentration of Australians fallen, from all battlefields across the Western Front.

Pozieres is where the Australian 1st Division first went into battle on the Western Front - 23rd July 1916.

The largest scar on the land on the Western Front - an underground mine blown on 1st July 1916, starting the Battle of the Somme.

Stop At: 3rd Australian Division Memorial, Corner Mericourt l'Abbe Rd/ & Sailly-le Sec Rd, Sailly-le-Sec France

The 3rd Australian Division was led by the great General John Monash and helped stall the last German advance in 1918 on the ridges and valleys here, just north of Viller-Bretonneux.

Villers-Bretonneux - a French town where locals, schools, students all forever remember Australia... a mateship born in the battles around ANZAC Day 1918.

The General Monash battle at Le Hamel showed a how battle should be fought - adjusted tactics that helped end the war only a few months later.
