Loire Valley Summer Wine and Food Experience
Our wine retreats are tailormade to showcase some of the best and most innovative producers in the region. During our time in Saumur we have developed great relationships with many of the winemakers in our area.
We will introduce you to high quality wines, show you the whole wine tasting experience, take you to the plots where the grapes are grown, meet the winemakers at their domaines and hear about how they create their own expression in their wines, adapting their techniques according to the soils and environmental influences.
With the inclusion of staying at our home, you will have the opportunity to further chat about the wines we tasted and compare the different vineyards, their wines and the characters that make the Loire the most innovative region for wine making in France.
We aim to take all the stress out of organising your own wine tour and accommodation, enjoy the comfortable surroundings of our home, the tranquillity and beauty of the town of Saumur.
ItineraryDay 1: Welcome and introduction to the region's wine and food sceneStop At: Saumur, Saumur, Maine et Loire, Pays de la Loire
At 2pm we will head to our first winemaker, where you will get privileged access to meet the producer, taste and hear about how their wine is made, influence of their environment and innovation practices in the region.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: FESTIVINI, 49 Rue du Maréchal Leclerc, 49400 Saumur, France
In the evening we will take you to the Festivini event (a series of 7 wine tasting events in the summer), which is also a rare opportunity to attend the rooftop of the Theatre Dome. This event will be showcasing some of the best crémant in the region.
Duration: 1 hour
Meals included:
• Lunch: On arrival you will have a light lunch with local produce and crémant before heading out to your 1st winery for tasting
• Dinner: 4 course evening meal and a blind wine tasting event to introduce you to the variety of wines available in the region.
Accommodation included: Stay in luxury accommodation at La Maison Trumeau, with your own ensuite bathroom
Day 2: Chateaux, Gardens and WineStop At: Chateau de Villandry, 3 rue Principale, 37510 Villandry France
We will explore a local sight from a couple of options chosen by the group, whether it be the stunning gardens at Chateau Villandry, wandering the streets of a UNESCO protected villages, or a visit to Parc Oriental de Maulevrier, the largest Japanese gardens in Europe.

In the afternoon we will take you to the 2nd and 3rd Domaine visits for the retreat, allowing plenty of time to chat with the winemakers, visit the premises and see the terroir where the grapes are grown. Not only drinking the fabulous wine but also drinking in the gorgeous scenery of the French countryside and rolling hills.

Meals included:
• Breakfast: A delicious French breakfast with fresh bakes from the local Boulanger before heading out for truffle hunting in Chinon
• Lunch: Back to la Maison Trumeau for healthy yet hearty lunch before visiting 2 vineyards in the afternoon.
• Dinner: Evening meal will be at 7.30pm in on of Saumur's top restaurants.

Day 3: Sights of SaumurStop At: Saumur, Saumur, Maine et Loire, Pays de la Loire
Time in the morning is your free time to visit the region's best food market and explore the town of Saumur. We are happy to make recommendations for your morning or join us while we take in the sights and sounds of the market while enjoying a coffee in our favourite spot, La Bastide

Stop At: Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Indre-et-Loire, Centre-Val de Loire
After lunch we will visit 2 winemakers at their Domaines, aiming to return to La Maison Trumeau at 5:30pm

• Breakfast: After breakfast you time is free to visit the region's best food market and explore the town of Saumur.
• Lunch: After lunch we will visit 2 winemakers at their Domaine's, aiming to return to La Maison Trumeau at 5:30pm
• Dinner: Saturday night's restaurant will be booked for 7.30pm at another one of Saumur's top restaurants

Day 4: Before you leaveStop At: Saumur, Saumur, Maine et Loire, Pays de la Loire
We highly recommend taking in the sights of one of the region's best flea markets, which are held most Sundays. On this date it will be held in the beautiful village of Montsoreau, along the banks of the Loire River. If you would like to attend the market for a browse and see the location we will happily take you there or offer other suggestions for things to see in the area.

• Breakfast: After breakfast, you have free time to enjoy the local sights or use the morning to relax and take it easy in our home.
